The financial technology sector is undergoing significant transformations, presenting new opportunities for both businesses and consumers. Srini Rajamani, the recently appointed CEO of Opus Technologies, comes to this role with over 27 years of esteemed leadership experience in the world’s leading technology companies like Wipro and IBM.
With a commendable track record in fostering technology innovation, Srini is committed to guiding Opus in effectively addressing the growing needs of financial institutions.
In this interview, Srini Rajamani shares his vision for Opus, provides valuable insights into the industry’s future, and discusses the profound impact of technology on the evolution of banking and payment processes.
Question 1: Can you share your journey from Wipro to becoming the CEO of Opus Technologies and how you approached the transition into this leadership role?
Taking on the CEO role at Opus Technologies has been both a privilege and a challenge. With nearly 30 years of experience, Opus has built a strong reputation for driving innovation in financial technology, with two of its businesses acquired by Fortune 500 companies. This legacy of success made it the perfect platform to apply my expertise.
As a member of the Wipro Executive Council, I contributed to shaping strategic decisions that span diverse industries. This experience gave me a deep understanding of how to harness advanced technologies like AI and digital solutions to address complex challenges and drive business outcomes.
It also taught me the importance of aligning innovation with organizational goals, a perspective I now bring to Opus Technologies as we focus on empowering our clients.
The transition involved immersing myself in Opus’s culture and identifying opportunities to scale its impact. My focus has been on building on its legacy while positioning the company as an industry leader.
Question 2: What is your vision for Opus Technologies, and what makes the company stand out in the fintech industry?
Opus Technologies has built a strong foundation for close to three decades. My vision is to expand this legacy by addressing challenges in payments, banking, and fintech through practical and secure technology.
What makes Opus stand out is its ability to combine deep domain knowledge with a client-first approach. Solutions like Paysemble and FinGeniusAI reflect this commitment, helping financial institutions streamline payment workflows and leverage AI-driven insights for fraud detection and operational efficiency.
As mentioned earlier, two of our group companies were acquired by Fortune 500 companies, demonstrating the value it has consistently created.
At Opus Technologies, we prioritize understanding client goals and delivering solutions that address their specific challenges, whether optimizing operational efficiency or enhancing customer experiences. Our product-driven approach sets us apart in the market.
While larger systems integrators often focus on services, our commitment to creating innovative, scalable products is a major differentiator. This mindset allows us to drive long-term value for our clients, empowering them to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive landscape.
My focus is on ensuring Opus remains agile, continually pushes the boundaries of innovation, and positions itself as a leading force in the industry.
Question 3: How do you see AI technologies like Generative AI and Large Language Models changing the financial industry, and how is Opus Technologies driving this transformation?
I see AI as the beginning of a revolution, much like the technological leap brought by the internet decades ago. Just as the internet reshaped industries and created global giants, AI has the potential to define the leaders of tomorrow.
Companies that invest in AI today are setting themselves up not just to compete but to dominate in the future. Those who hesitate risk losing relevance in an era where speed, intelligence, and personalization are critical.
In the financial industry, AI is already making a tangible impact. Opus is committed to ensuring we lead this transformation. With FinGeniusAI, we harness advanced machine learning to deliver actionable insights, enabling proactive fraud detection, seamless process automation, and smarter decision-making for financial institutions.
Question 4: How has AI transformed industries in your previous roles, and how do you plan to leverage its potential at Opus Technologies to revolutionize payment systems and customer service?
In my earlier roles, I observed how AI revolutionized organizational operations. AI-driven solutions, such as intelligent automation and personalized customer experiences, allowed businesses to engage more effectively with customers while streamlining workflows.
What stood out most was how AI transformed disparate data into actionable intelligence, enabling organizations to mitigate churn, enhance customer retention, and accelerate decision-making.
Yet, many organizations face significant challenges in becoming AI-capable. Legacy systems, data fragmentation, and outdated architectures often hinder the rapid deployment of modern solutions.
Integrating AI with these entrenched infrastructures can be complex and overwhelm IT teams, while the fast-paced evolution of AI technology leaves businesses struggling to keep up.
At Opus Technologies, we provide a clear path to AI adoption. Our expertise lies in modernizing legacy systems, optimizing data integration, and ensuring seamless AI deployment across organizations. By addressing these technical challenges head-on, we enable businesses to unlock the full potential of AI, driving operational agility and data-driven innovation.
Opus is already leading the way, and we are committed to building on this foundation to help our clients succeed in an AI-driven future.
Question 5: What principles and philosophies guide your approach to leadership and driving business success?
For me, leadership starts with integrity and accountability, which is why I place great importance on the “Say-Do Ratio.” Simply put, it is about delivering on promises.
When leaders consistently follow through on their commitments, it builds trust and sets a standard of reliability across the organization. This approach not only drives alignment but also creates a culture where teams feel empowered to meet and exceed expectations.
I also believe that leadership is about clarity of vision and consistent communication. Teams perform best when they understand the “why” behind what they are doing and see how their contributions connect to the bigger picture.
By setting clear goals and leading by example, I aim to create an environment where individuals take ownership, innovate confidently, and work collaboratively toward achieving meaningful business outcomes.
